First listen. I like it, particularly the beats. The rapping doesn't do much for me, though. I'll have to listen to it again for sure. I guess it's not exactly what I expected, the voices aren't as much on the forefront as on other hip hop album from the same period. Well that's the feeling I got anyway. Still, nice listen.
Overall-chart-good. Absolutely amazing, probably my favorite punk record from the punk period after the first punk period... Is there a name? Maybe 90s' punk, but this came out in 89 xD Anyway, crazy good. Jaded, Vulnerabilty and Freeze Up are breathtaking. The singer is one of the best I know, too. Shouts like no one.
Edit : I've just checked the album page, and the regulars don't seem to particularly like this one... Oh well.

It's a very good one. I like Operation Ivy quite a bit.
EDIT: The name of genre I would say Energy typically coincides with is Ska punk (Rancid, Streelight Manifesto, Catch 22, etc. I would include Less than Jake, but they take in pop punk more as an influence than ska. Actually, I'd also try Choking Victim if I were you).

Yeah, I love that record. Almost overall chart worthy. Anyway, yeah what happymeal said are good recs. I am a particularly big fan of Rancid. They came right out of Operation Ivy. Brilliant album is "...And Out Come The Wolves" (1995). If you haven't heard it, it's wildly, massively, TOTALLY recommended! _________________ -Ryan
