Good, but nothing really on "The Soft Bulletin"

I guess that depends on what you mean by a great lyricist. If originality is your barometer though,there aren't too many as original or imaginative as Wayne Coyne. I think of this as the little brother of Soft Bulletin, good but not as good as its predecessor.

Wow, harsh on Sgt. Pepper's. Completely disagree that it's not "any good" - about 1/2 the album is great. The other half borders on the ridiculous. Meanwhile, about Yoshimi... Musically, after just three tracks I'm completely won over by this album. However, The Flaming Lips is one of those bands that seems to have great compositional ideas but lacks a true lyricist and so comes up with ridiculous songs to go with their music. At least I'd like to think the music came first - if the lyrics did, these guys need to seriously visit rehab NOW ;)

This is basically what "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" would have sounded like if the technology to make this album existed at the time. And also if "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" was any good to begin with.
