What do you like about those records, rayword45? The wistful integration of particularly and quintessentially North American styles like folk and country into more modern pop frameworks, with soft vocals that have range outside of singer/songwriter-ness? I'm having a hard time pinning it down to anything less abstract. If that is indeed what you are after, the following would be my picks:

To me that sounds more like SMiLE than Smiley Smile. The three albums I named are all very odd and uncommercial albums that sound like the artist is having some serious breakdown issues (saying I like listening to that makes me come off like an asshole I bet). It's mostly in the vocals, as a large amount of reviews for Third and TTN refer to the singers sounding "drunken" or defeated.
So, to alter what you said, it's the sound of desolation integrated into modern pop frameworks. Or if not desolation, desperation or sadness in general.

Alongside this I'd also take a listen to Blind Melon's Soup.
EDIT: I'm looking for something similar to Harvey Danger's King James Version.
EDIT2: I'm also looking for a more acoustic sounding Romantics - esque album. I remember asking about this one in another thread and found the perfect example through a rec, but I forgot the name of that album ๐
. Recommend me albums similar to Third/Sister Lovers by Big Star, Smiley Smile by The Beach Boys or Tonight's The Night by Neil Young. That kind of vibe. I don't rank Pink Moon or In Utero with these three, as they sound a lot less drunken.
Okay, y'all, I'd like some recommendations. Can some of you give me like 1-3 badass recommendations for albums like this... Or at Least albums you think I will love considering as I love this...
Like, I just love it's metal style sure but I also love the TOTAL Godspeed feel on here, so that brand of dramatic post rock mixed with the kinda screamo emotionality and the largeness or epic ness of the album, I really love it! And now I'm sold on getting into more black metal/Post Rock type albums. Okay, shoot.
Especially interested in necharsian's input if you have any, also yourself or Gowie and really anyone else who knows enough about this album that they can provide some great recs.
