New Amerykah Part One 4th World War by Erykah Badu

Leaving the live album to one side, I actually think this is Erykah's weakest (or maybe second weakest, after Worldwide Underground). I much prefer Part Two. Mama's Gun has its share of filler, but its strongest moments are among the strongest of her career. That said, I did adore this one when it came out. Always loved that Madlib beat for 'The Healer'. One of the first records I bought on vinyl, if not the first, after I got my first turntables.

Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols by Sex Pistols

Yeah whenever I hear that opening marching sound effect and those big power chords, I get very happy.

I don't know if it's her weakest or not (though I tend to listen to Part One and Part Two as one record/listen), but I think as of late is certainly my favorite. But I don't think Badu has ever recorded a truly mediocre or bad record so even her weakest comes out fairly strong in the end run.

Oh, for sure. Anyway, nearing the end of...

Cycles by Frank Sinatra

Never falls below average, but this record is very hit-and-miss. His versions of 'Little Green Apples', 'Cycles', 'By The Time I Get To Phoenix', 'My Way of Life' (the opening of which I'm pretty sure is the basis for a hip-hop song, but I forget which - it's actually really pissing me off, so if anybody knows which song I'm thinking of then please tell me), and 'Gentle on my Mind' are all fantastic, some of my favourite Sinatra work in fact. He does sort of murder 'From Both Sides, Now' I guess, but it has a certain charm, whilst the other four songs are just forgettable to be honest. But this is definitely one of Sinatra's better efforts from this era, up there with the Jobim stuff.
