Do you play albums on repeat a lot?

I don't think I ever, or at least very rarely, play an album more than once in a day. However, I often listen to albums for several days in a row. I often play songs on repeat, sometimes 5+ times in a row. Lately, I've been listening to Colossal Youth each day and then occasionally playing Tom Tom Club's "Genius of Love" and Cat Power's "Good Woman" on repeat.

1-2: year
2-4: decade
2+ : overall

This is for the initial entry. After that, things can change a lot. Expect some today or tomorrow on a few of mine.

I'm more like tiger. I never listen to an album more than once a day. I sometimes listen to the same one day after day though. But for months now, I've been much more into discovering than revisiting. I haven't loads of listening time a day, and most of it is used for first to fifth listens, and not that much for old favorites. I think it's just a mood thing, this will eventually wear out and I'll feel the need to come back to faves again, but as of now, it's mostly new things, and I avoid listening to them more than once a day.

Yeah, sometimes. Mostly I'm a song-on-repeat sort of person. I listen to individual songs quite a bit for someone on an album based forum. Anyone else like this?

Oh yeah definitely! I get obsessed over songs very easily and it's not rare for me to listen to them up to ten times a day before the excitement wears off. (usually when I find another song to obsess over).
Then it's not rare for me to just "forget" the previous song for a few weeks straight, but if it's really something special I come back to it sooner or later, so it's not really a problem.

It happens with albums also but it's much rarer since it's a lot more difficult to find enough time to listen to them multiple times a day. With a 4-5minute song you can just listen to it whenever you have a little free-time like during your coffee break or something.

To crack my overall chart, I think I'd have to have heard an album at least 10 times, probably more. Everything in my top 100 has been listened to so many times that it's become part of my DNA. I can't imagine listening to an album once and thinking, okay this is good enough to knock album x off my overall chart.

That said. I've added plenty of albums to my year charts after only 1 or 2 listens.

How long is a piece of string? How long does it take to fall in lover?

There's no rule, really. I'm kind of relaxed about adding charts into my year and decade charts. But my overall chart is sacred, I have to be 100% sure it belongs before I add it. Sometimes this take 1 listen, sometimes it takes about 20. My top 2 took many (20+) listens before I included them. On the other hand, my number 3 probably only took 1 or 2 listens.[/i]

If it's album material, I'll usually know it within the first few listens but there are some albums that take a while to reveal themselves.
