ok. cracked open a beer and gave this a go. here were my thoughts...
Not bad AM radio rock but doesn't really hold up in the album setting. The lyrics are really cheesy. Second song reminds me of Achtung Baby U2, which I'm not a fan of either. Basically, this sounds like decent, but rather generic arena rock. Luckily, Caleb has a kickass voice, and I think that's what people are responding to.
Kings Of Leon are a one-trick pony band that are about 3-4 albums overdue.
The band has release 4-5 pretty good songs over the past 10 years, but to listen to any of their albums is just as tedious as Nickelback. It's all sounds the same.. Over..and over.. and over again. In small doses, they can be ok though. Listening to Sex on Fire once every few months kind of allows it to have a redeeming quality.
But I agree with Mecca with the downhill slope.. their material from the last 5 years hasn't even been worth touching. _________________ Doubles & Conch
