Best KC album of the 80's era with Adrian Belew on vocals/guitar. A little bit less progressive and a little more new wave, like a cousin to The Talking Heads but still retaining the King Crimson sound.

Have you heard "Beat"? 3 times better, in my opinion.
Also the second part of "Three of a Perfect Pair" is better, only the second part, though.

Most people think "Discipline" still keeps a prog vibe, only because there is a great guitar work by Fripp on most songs, but that work is repetitive and serves as a rhythm for the singed parts. Nothing to do with the experimental awesome guitar work of the classic period, nothing really progressive.
The only track we could define progressive is, I think, "Indiscipline", and it's great but nothing new for them: it's a sort of remake of what they did with "Red" and LTIA. While I'd say the only track really interesting of the whole album is "The Sheltering Sky": it's more near in style to what Fripp did with Eno in the previous years, but it has a unique mood we can't even find in SABB.
The singed songs (Elephant Talk, Frame by Frame) are not that good, and don't take me as a "only-instrumental-prog-guy", cause I love, f.e., the singed songs contained in Beat. They're quite good and have a good rhythm, but that's all I can say about. Not only rhythms keep the same through those songs, but also those songs themselves keep the same structure and vibe. And that's definitely not a very original vibe: it's something similar to Talking Heads, to think positive, or The Police, to think worse. Without to mention "Mate Kudasai": that's just boring, and prob my least favourite song by KC ever.

Incredible.

Not really bothered by how prog it is or not. Might be their strongest song for song work (even if I probably prefer Red as a whole piece just a bit overall) ranging from the gorgeous Frame By Frame to the catchy Thela Hun Gingeet to the great Sheltering Sky.

I think the lineup of Belew, Levin, Bruford and Fripp is one of the strongest in any band ever in terms of virtuosity and complimenting but distinct styles.

Yes and I like this entire era of KC, these three albums are almost of one piece. I would put Beat just below Discipline and I agree about the second part of Three of a Perfect Pair.
