Risen the most over the course of the past 24 hours. And there's a certain period of time after an album gets selected that it becomes ineligible (I don't believe albummaster has ever said exactly what this timeframe is, but it's probably safe to assume it's a year), which explains why all of these albums are suddenly becoming eligible again, which in turn explains why we're seeing them in roughly the same order.

It's not in my chart anymore, but if I didn't have the one artist limit, it would still be in my top 10.

I wouldn't say this is R.E.M.'s darkest album, I'd actually give Monster that title, but the themes of mortality and loss make it bittersweet. Michael Stipe's voice is still the most powerful voice I know, I adore every second of his vocals. The album was also important at the time as the flagship acoustic-rock record amidst the grunge movement, there wasn't anything quite like it in the alternative scene at the time.

Points for extra coolness involve it being the last album Kurt Cobain heard before he committed suicide. Cobain had said he wanted the next Nirvana album to take direct influence from Automatic, using acoustic guitars and strings - it's a shame that album now will never exist.

I shared a great many very emotional moments with this album, but currently New Adventures In Hi-Fi is my favourite R.E.M. record, as I believe it's grittier, more down to earth and mature during a time when they were at the height of their song writing abilities.

The best of their post-IRS career. Totally radio-friendly while remaining sincere and well-written, well done. A 90s MTV-alternative classic.

New Adventures is too long. I've actually forgotten what most of the second half sounded like despite it beingone of my favorite albums at one point. 'The Wake Up Bomb' is great.

Yeah, probably R.E.M's best. Though is saying that, it still didn't manage to make it onto my list.
