Yes. Good album. Probably my favourite singer of all time, but there isn't much material to go on, shame.
I like it a lot, originally thought it was a more folky, singer/songwriter kind of album when I listened to Hallelujah and Last Goodbye (both great songs), then I heard Eternal Life and that came as a shock. Didn't expect something so grungy from the other tracks.
Personally the only tracks I find a bit lacking are Corpus Christi and Dream Brother, just don't really connect with them like I do the other tracks.

I used to love it, just not much anymore, spent well over a year on my overall chart, 'Last Goodbye' is certainly still my jam and the album is good no doubt, just not on the spectacular level that I once had it at. _________________

A really nice album. Bought it in '95 based on Last Goodbye's radio play, and the rave reviews of my friends. Buckley is a good songwriter and has a lovely voice. I get sick of Hallelujah, I don't think it's one of the album's stronger tracks at all, though it's a pleasant cover.

The only recent AotD that's actually falling on the BEA charts (was at #26 five years ago) and is not particularly loved on the forums (#163). It's nice, but I don't have strong feelings about it. I also agree with this:

For the longest time, this album was my No. 1 - now having been recently bumped to No. 2. However, I think it needs to be said that - to me anyway - 'Eternal Life' does not belong on this album, and should have definitely been left off in favour of 'Forget Her'. But hey, once again, that's just me. Still, an incredible album - the best of the 90's! 100/100. _________________ - An aspiring Music Journalist.

I recognize the song quality at times, I agree his voice is impressive (but way over the top) and all... But yeah, something really irks me about the way this thing was mixed or produced or something. I am not savvy on such stuff however.
I just don't like it very much. |
I half agree with this. I have always appreciated the live versions of all the songs on here to the studio versions. When I'm in a Jeff Buckley mood, I go back to Sin-E. I think the studio recordings just sound too dense and constrained and full and overproduced. Nonetheless, the songwriting is top-notch, as is the vocal performance. All-in-all, I still love this record. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.

For me, it's a dead heat between this and Mighty Joe Moon for best of 1994. As I said in my comment on the album page, this is a beautiful album. Buckley had one of the best voices of all time. And I love how unusual the songs are. There is a complexity and density to them that I think is overlooked because the vocals are so delicate.
