Apart from some of the worst of U2's albums, in recent times it's also thrown up Bloc Party's second album and one by Kasabian, and I don't know much about Wolfmother but I've not heard too many good things. Sometimes a much better album will come up but it probably won't be new to any of us, and discussion on these threads doesn't really go anywhere anyway. One person likes it, the next person doesn't - whatevs, yano? Do we need an artificial thread to be generated every day to foster a "sense of community" or something? All I come here for really is to get (and maybe even give) some recs. I ain't gonna be heading over to Suggestions to ask for 'Album of the Day' to be discontinued or anything, but it's a feature I take very little from and will probably continue to ignore.

It's far from being a beautiful day when this is your album of choice. _________________ What I heard in 2015 and the 2010s so far. Now hearing this.

That isn't where I'm coming from. There's plenty albums that I like featured as 'Album of the Day'. I couldn't be bothered discussing them / defending them / praising them, or whatever, either. Everyone on the forum's probably got an opinion on them / the artists, and it's probably not gonna change too much as a result of these threads. The top 1000 is there for anyone to take recs from if they need to.
If you take a lot from 'Album of the Day', that's great. My opinion (one that I've tried to put forward as respectfully as I could) is that it's a bit superfluous, and maybe even a harmful thing, given the large volume of great, but very underexposed bands and artists around.
