I honestly prefer this disc to both Unknown Pleasures and Closer, though that likely has as much to do with this being my introduction to Joy Division as anything else. But yeah, if I had to pick only one Joy Division disc to keep for the rest of my life (thankfully I don't), it would be Substance. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Yeah, I too would choose this over Unknown Pleasures and Closer, it's in my top 20 of all time with good reason, 'Leaders of Men' might be the best song by them. _________________

I definitely wouldn't put it above either Unknown Pleasures or Closer. I see it as solid bonus tracks to fill the void the aforementioned albums left. _________________

Album is good for 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'. Which is a good thing if you heard the song.
