I know that was not meant to be a counter-thread.. it was pretty disappointing at first, but then we clarified about (expecially with Cuba). So, no, that's not the reason why we decided to not write here anymore. Maybe it's been a sort of an advertising, for us and for everyone. As you see, many people weren't ok with this thread because they thought this was just a thread for us two to talk instead of PM, which was obv a wrong impression.
This is the main reason why we put down the thread: nobody was writing here anymore but us two, and, although we surely enjoy to talk to each other, we didnt want this thread to be like that.
Also, at least speaking for me, this thread was becoming the only place in this site where I was active, and, altough even now i'm not one of the most active users on the site, I don't want this to happen because I'd like to share things with everyone, discuss things other members put up, etc.. |
^Wise words.
Just because something receives a backlash on the forums doesn't mean that the users in question are unwanted or disliked, it just means some people didn't like that thing. In the case of this thread, I think some users (including myself) started to question it when it actually became just the Mies and Pa Show. That doesn't mean I dislike Mies or Pa (just the reverse, in fact), I just thought that it didn't really feel like a community thread.
And I still think that. If users want to rethink the concept into something that garners more community involvement, I'll be all for it, but I don't think threads that are used by only two users are what discussion forums are best suited for. I nixed my first music history thread for similar reasons, actually -- it was mostly just getting used three users (myself, mecca, and Norman).

I actually loved that thread, I just didn't feel experienced enough at the time to comment on it without making a fool of myself. So I used it to learn. You guys put put some fascinating stuff.

Well I wanted to keep a lot of the same content, but also encourage involvement from people who weren't that knowledgable about music history. At least that was the idea behind the second thread, and I think it went pretty well for a while. I gave up on that one just cause my non-virtual life began to get too demanding for me to keep up with it.
