I'm very late to be discussing this, but the recent Jamie xx album, in my opinion, really deserved the 9.3 it got recently. I didn't think it would live up to that score upon first purchasing it. But I was proven wrong. Every track is so emotive, with powerful productions. Great electronic music from a golden era of electronic music.

Excited to give the new Vince Staples and London O'Connor albums a listen, but as for the new Kronos Quartet album, I don't think I've ever seen them put an 8.4 in the dust 🤣 Even if it is a classical cover album.

It's also worth a mention that both examples would actually have gotten BNR designation because they were reissues/boxsets.

I wonder if that makes a difference.
