Well damn that is tough. It's a surprisingly unique sound. The closest I can think is obvious stuff like this
This mostly is just maniacal brillient piano rock. Not too similar at all. But it tends to remind
me of later 80s waits. It's really mindblowing my crazy, funny and musically engaging, full of INSANE personality. Kinda like listening to the Joker when he's tipsy playing his heart's content.
This is pretty straight up soul/r&b/New Orleans blues. But when he slows it down on these cuts its haunting and chill af blues/jazz stuff. Legendary record which I think you'll love. Especially you gotta gotta gotta hear "St. James Infirmary"... O.M.F.G. it's a mesmerizing take.
Also there is a stellar piano blues album called "7936 South Rhodes" by Eddie Boyd & Peter Green which I've been enraptured by lately that I've yet to have added to our database. It's gorgeous, of course it is it has Peter Green as well as some beautiful, piano-based, chill playing.
Otherwise I mean you can always get into the more slowed down cuts by Allen toussaintt, Otis Spann, Professor Longhair, Dr. John and the like. And I hate to say it but Norah Jones' debut features a (very polished, slick) rendition of that lonesome jazzy songwriter style found on Waits' first 2 albums. I don't actually hate to say it cuz it's true and actually an excellent album.
Again for the life of me I was having a hard time nailing down a really perfect rec for this one. Sorry for the long ass delay. _________________ -Ryan

Sail Away is actually a great thought, that's one of, if not my favorite, Randy Newman album, similar feel. I'll be sure to check out the others! _________________ Progressive Rock
