Sometype · 2015-07-23T07:29:48-04:00

Basically just post your top 10 hip-hop/rap artists, best album by that artist would be appreciated as would links to said albums. Starting this thread because I'm keen to discover some new hip-hop. This is my personal list, I've tried to make them in some kind of order but I could be asked again in a few weeks and this list would be most likely be different but oh well. Also, excuse the lack of links in my top ten, I'm new to this site so I'm not level 2 yet :-( 1.Kendrick Lamar Favourite album: good kid, m.a.a.d city (2012) Favourite track: The Art of Peer Pressure (Track 4) 2.Madvillain Favourite album: Madvillainy (2004) Favourite track: America's Most Blunted (Track 6) 3.Death Grips Favourite album: The Money Store (2012) Favourite track: System Blower (Track 8) 4.Beastie Boys Favourite album: Check Your Head (1992) Favourite track: Stand Together (Track 12) 5.A Tribe Called Quest Favourite album: Peoples' Instinctive Travels & the Paths of Rhythm (1990) Favourite track: Youth Expression (Track 9) 6.Nas Favourite album: Illmatic (1994) Favourite track: One Love (Track 7) 7.Dr. Dre Favourite album: The Chronic (1992) Favourite track: Stranded On Death Row (Track 14) 8.Drake Favourite album: If You're Reading This, It's Too Late (2015) Favourite track: 6 God (Track 7) 9.Earl Sweatshirt Favourite album: Doris (2013) Favourite track: Hoarse (Track 14) 10.Joey Bada$$ Favourite album: 1999 (2012) Favourite track: Survival Tactics (Track 4)

Frank Ocean could blast off to the Top 5 but I'm not sure, "is he a Hip-Hop artist?"

I thought exactly the same thing, I get more of a RnB soul kind of vibe from him.

No Tupac mention yet? Is he hated on this site or am I missing something?

I don't think he's hated or even disliked. I'd just argue his albums are highly inconsistent.

I find him highly overrated. But then again, I also don't like Eminem or Drake.

I can't make a list, but I'm on the Kendrick bandwagon. Never thought I'd put such a new artist in the "all time great" conversation but he deserves all the praise he gets.

Everyone else has pretty much named all my favorites aside from Outkast and Public Enemy. Tupac would make my top 10 for sure.

I'll admit I probably only even like 20-25 artists tops, but I'm more interested in the genre now than ever before, so I'll be using this thread and Skinny's chart for a few days.

I'm the exact same with Kanye West, I enjoy some of his songs but I've never found myself enjoying a full album of his all the way through.

large, large, large gap, Drake is my favorite artist of all-time by an ocean, i really need to get the X<3O tattoo or something, my gosh i love him so much, i can't imagine my life w/o Drizzy Drake <3 <3

I'll be honest I used to not dig Drake at all but ever since he released If You're Reading This, he has just grown on me a ridiculous amount and that includes all of his other stuff too (Take Care is incredible). 8)
