I got Tortoise's A Lazarus Taxon (3xCD comp.), Beacons of Ancestorship, Gently Cupping the Chin of the Ape (CD EP), "Hot Coffee" (single-sided 7" flexi-disc), and Bonnie "Prince" Billy & Tortoise's Brave and the Bold in the mail today. Including remixes of Tortoise by others, I now have everything that Tortoise has put to wax, and own every song they've released outside of the Japanese Why Waste Time? CD EP, which I'm trying to get from a U.S. buyer right now. I don't think I've ever been so fanatical about any other musician(s) before.
How much did you pay for a copy of TNT? ive been searching for about 2 and a half years and I haven't found a reasonably priced one yet :s _________________ Alt Right meme game on point

I got the 2012 Thrill Jockey 20th anniversary reissue back in early 2013 for around $30. Just looked up some modern prices for the 2012 pressing and found $80 to ~$200, which is ridiculous. The most I've paid for a Tortoise record was $45 for an original pressing of Rhythms, Resolutions and Clusters, and I felt that was gouged. You might try digging in special collections at used book stores that sell vinyl; they'll set the good stuff aside, but it's not picked very often at all. I've seen things like original issues of late '90s Autechre at some for cheap. People online play a game of escalation, and unfortunately a lot of record stores follow suit.
Got HiM's Sworn Eyes and Tortoise's Why Waste Time? in the mail today, and the seller decided to throw in a couple CD-Rs with Durutti Column's LC and Beautumn's Blanket burned on to them.
HiM is Doug Scharin's (Codeine, Directions, Rex, June of 44) solo project, and most of its music is available for free at his website. Sworn Eyes is the best album I've heard from the project, and includes Rob Mazurek, Jeff Parker, and Bundy K. Brown. In the liner notes, he gives thanks to the guys from Red Red Meat/Califone guys (specifically Rutili, Massarella, Deck), Southern records, Soul Static Sound records, and the various groups he's involved in and the other members are involved in, including Tortoise. Go listen to it. And if you like HiM, listen to Directions, particularly their single on Soul Static Sound.
All the above £1 each. Barter with him, get it down to £4.
Total spend thus far - £5
Stall 3 - Guy in his early 40s selling LPs for 'his aunt who's become a bit ill and needs the money'. Guilt trip marketing always works, and could have worked a little better if it weren't for the fact he had a stackful of bog-standard classical LPs. Nevertheless, in amongst the Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky I surprisingly found:
No point bartering as it was only a quid and I could feel the cold hand of guilt climbing on my shoulder when he mentioned his aunt again.
Total spend thus far - £6
Stall 4 - two women selling clothes. You know the ones - they've got second hand rags on a running rail and umpteen pairs of shoes sitting on an old bedsheet. I mean, who buys someone else's shoes? Just weird. Anyway, had a few disco/soul LPs, nothing much cop so out of sympathy I grab:
Stall 5 - obviously someone 'in the trade' or working for a magazine as has a load of promos, slipmatts and the like. All sealed but haven't heard of any of the artists he's flogging. Instead decide to grab something on a total whim. Going for £3, knocked down to £2. Brand new so even if it's cack then no loss (by this time I was going to buy a bacon sarnie but decided to hang on to £3 just in case)

Stall 6 - the pièce de résistance. An old hippy selling everything from Country Joe & The Fish and Gram Parsons to Meat Beat Manifesto 12"s. Had some very weird, trippy shit, and also some folk and even late 80s indie (House of Love, Biff Bang Pow). Better still, 4 boxes of records marked 'ALL HALF PRICE'. I ummed and ahhed but in the end decided to blow my remaining £11 on:
US press, seeing as they released if with Wee Tam in the UK
Marked as combined price of £28. Half price makes it £14, knock him down to £11.
Total spend £20.00 Suffice it to say I feel somewhat pleased with myself, and as I'm a superstitious git and can't possibly end on 13 I decide to stop off on the way home to my local record shop to buy some record cleaner and spy this in the corner of my eye:
