So after selling a couple of Wire LPs that were superfluous to requirements on Discogs (my 2nd Harvest pressing of Pink Flag is currently winging its way to Singapore for ยฃ40) and with a 3-hour lunch break I decided to spend the time re-investing my loot in some new wax. Consequently I headed off to Ladbroke Grove up the M4 and picked up:
Both from Honest Jons. Both represses of two killer digital-era classics from the Firehouse label on Japan's Dub Store (fast becoming the Blood and Fire for the 2010s). Ironically I saw the original of the former at a record shop in the middle of nowhere (Shepton Mallet) for ยฃ70 and passed on it. Just as well really. Recommended to anyone who likes Tenor Saw's Fever. Worth the journey as I didn't think they were released for a couple of weeks. Happy days.
Commodores eponymous fifth album arrived today, I swear I remember this album being in UK shops under the title 'Zoom', although there's no record I can find of that title ever being used now, but that sort of thing does happen over the years: I once had an Al Green album titled 'Tired of being Alone' which was essentially the 'Green is Blues' album with the title track added when it became a hit; there's no trace of that now either.
Also The Strokes 'Is this it' cd arrived by post.
Also 'Here's some that got away' by The Style Council. Even the compilationphobes might approve of this one as The Style Council only made one good album but did a lot of good work that was consigned to b-sides and extra tracks on 12" singles. I'm looking forward to this one.
