Solo MC: He's definitely not close to the best MC in technique, but seeing as we're talking about discographies here, I'll go with Kanye West. Obviously he hasn't been consistent stylistically, but he's put out consistently brilliant albums that often push boundaries in mainstream hip-hop. I even like his releases that are generally seen as weaker (i.e. Watch The Throne, Cruel Summer, early material collected unofficially on the Freshmen Adjustments). Honestly though, who knows whether SWISH will continue the streak or represent the end of an era. I almost said Kendrick Lamar, with his three brilliant LPs, but I didn't like his pre-Section.80 output much at all. Honorable mention to the Notorious B.I.G. also.
Duo: I love OutKast a ton, but Idlewild disqualifies them from the conversation for most consistent in my eyes. So I'll give the nod to Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth - so underrated. Honorable mention to Run The Jewels also.
Group: The Roots are simply amazing and get bonus points for longevity, but they have a couple albums that are good but not brilliant. Therefore, Digable Planets are the most consistent for me. Honorable mention to Fugees also. _________________ Join us in the canon game :) / Add me on RYM

I was going to say OutKast for the duo, but then Idlewild popped in my mind. The Roots I agree. For solo, I'd say Kanye West (I wouldn't count Watch the Throne). 808s can cause some head scratching, but I personally love it and it has inspired a lot of artists I adore today (Drake, Travis Scott, Young Thug). And Yeezus is pretty polarizing, but it's one of the most cohesive rap albums I have ever heard. One of those albums where I listen to the whole or none.

Idlewood isn't terrible tbh, and it certainly doesn't mar a nearly perfect run. Besides I'd argue that as a soundtrack it shouldn't even really be considered as part of their main discography anyway
so yeah voting Outkast for most consistent Duo, for group I'd probably go with Gang Starr, and solo I guess DOOM probably. edit: or if I can include his production work for other artists and his role in Company Floww then El-P is a serious contender

think I'd also go for 36M for most consistent group in that case. And nah Screw ain't cheating, though I will say he's got a fuckload of tapes and some are very significantly better than others imo (though I can't claim to have listening to anywhere near all of them)
solo: Kendrick (DOOM and Earl Sweatshirt a very close second)
duo: maybe Mobb Deep, OutKast (i dunno its kind of a hard one) but the best duos are definitely one offs (Madvillain, Black Star etc.)
