When your going with the old and always reliable I IV V for instance, it's gravy 😁
Sure it is, but when you're going with the very same I IV V, G is barbecue sauce. Barbecue sauce beats gravy any day.
Gravy is much better than BBQ sauce. They serve gravy at Thanksgiving dinner, while BBQ sauce is almost always absent.
Though, when it comes down to it, C is highly overrated, so I would still probably pick G over C, but not by much.
Am all the why. Specifically, Am7.
So they have Thanksgiving in Canada 🤔
I don't know, I've always had a soft spot for minor chords. They have more spookyererernessness
.
Well, we have Thanksgiving but it isn't as big of a deal and we have it in October. You backwards yanks, eating turkey in November of all things, the hell is wrong with you all?
A minor! You can use it in the key of C,G... It sounds great combined with both E minor as well as E major too. It sounds good in an ascending progression to B minor. It was in a lot of Beatles songs, Smith songs, R.E.M. songs, and I have used it in many of my songs. It's found in Irish folk songs all the time. It can be a great droning chord and it's easy to write a riff around it. You can write a song with just A minor and G major (Working Class Hero?).

Yes, that is a good one 🤔
It was a great choice for Lennon on Working Class Hero 😁
Now you have me questioning my vote for C 😨

Well, A minor is the relative minor of Cmajor, so maybe our votes aren't that different. 😉

Ya, but I prefer minor over major and I use minor's a lot when I write music.
Probably a little 2 much though for many people's tastes 🫢

Maybe the question should be, what's your favorite key? In that case, I would say G or C probably. Those keys are very versatile and just sound the best to my ear. I've heard those are more pop and folk type keys, whereas E and A are more rock keys. That's probably oversimplifying it though.
Yeah, Gary. I like minor chords better too (one other thing we have in common). I used to annoy my band mate by writing a progression with only minor chords and singing about being sad and depressed (it was a joke). They always sound good mixed with major chords though.
