What's your favorite album cover art?
My Picks:
Dookie - Green Day
Revolver - The Beatles
Death of a Bachelor - Panic! at the Disco
Let it Bleed - The Rolling Stones
Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
London Calling - The Clash
Arcade Fire - Funeral _________________ Nothing really matters, anyone can see, nothing really matters, nothing really matters to me.
You guys here at BEA are pretty good at asking questions that I have never given any deeper thought before 🤣
I can easily agree to some of yours, hereforashortime, but to make it more interesting I've choosen different ones:
Noir - Heymoonshaker
Triple Distilled - Kiosk
In The Aeroplane Over The Sea - Neutral Milk Hotel
Thirteenth Step - A Perfect Circle
Odyssey & Oracle - The Zombies
Here's two of my favorites done by cartoonist Gary Larson (The Far Side). Turns out he makes some pretty swell album covers as well. Legend has it he did one in exchange for a lesson from the artist (Herb Ellis). Turns out Larson is a big jazz guitar fan.
Here's the one he did for the album "Something Special" by Jim Hall. Typical Larson characters in a classic diner. He cleverly makes the menu on the wall the song titles and the prices are actually the song durations.
This one, Herb Ellis' "Doggin' around," is even more fun. It's actually a jazz club, but it's inhabited by typical Larson dogs rather than people. The place is called "The Stuffed Cat" complete with an actual stuffed cat hanging outside the window. There are other clever little touches, like the picture of the fire hydrant indicating the way to the restroom.
