Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 82.3/100, a mean average of 81.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.7.

I have been listening to several albums a day for a few good few years and I do not remember liking one more than this on a first listen. It is still excellent after three or more listens. For me, it put plunderphonics on the musical map.

I love putting this on before going to bed. Not that it's boring but it's just really good music to go to sleep to.

I cannot remember enjoying any album more by a new group, to me, on a first listen. It is exceptionally good.

As mentioned by some of the other comments on here, this is just such a fun record that was cobbled together entirely from samples that the group members picked up whist going around Melbourne record shops. It has some elements that could be considered experimental or avant-garde, yet it flows really well and I think would be a great album to play at parties due to the atmosphere it creates. It's also amazing how the group managed to create a sound that still sounds fresh and original over 20 years on from it's released using only samples.

In my opinion this beats DJ Shadow's Endtrouding.... as the best sampledelia/plunderphonics album of all time, just because it feels more complete and has a cool concept. I also don't think it suffers in the same way from repetition as the DJ Shadow one does slightly

There are 9 Australian albums inside the BEA top 500, Tame “Kevin” Impala has three, ACA-DACA has two, Cavey has two leaving one for the unlikely Courtney Barnett from Preston Melbourne and this one which may well be the best of the lot

Running in one continuous flow for 60 minutes and featuring something like 900 samples ( the quoted “3,500” samples is off the mark) we may never see the likes of it again with legal bindings making things nigh on impossible today

The best debut by an Australian artist (no contest)

The best album by an Australian artis? Debatable but valid

A plunderphonics masterpiece

This is a fantastic record and one that feels completely unique and stands out from the crowd. The music is so vibrant and fun with each track providing something new which never allows for the listener to get bored. All songs are of good quality with some tracks being true standouts among the rest such as the Title Track and Frontier Psychiatrist. This makes the album on the whole one of the most consistent and best flowing albums out there right now. It is so experimental and is an experience like none other from start to finish. Overall, it is very difficult not to enjoy this record and it has so much to explore as well making it one of the greatest albums of all time.
