Beautiful. A masterpiece and one of the best albums ever. It marked the beginning of a new, more electric era for Miles (that would lead to other masterpieces like Bitches Brew). Anyone who likes Kind of Blue should hear this.

his best. i mean, frick:

- miles davis
- wayne shorter
- john mclaughlin
- chick corea
- herbie hancock
- joe zawinul
- dave holland
- tony williams

that reads like an nba all-star team. absolutely ridiculous. and the music is as incredible as you'd expect.

please listen to this if you haven't, and if you have, give it another spin. friggin' yes.

My favorite Miles!

Unique and totally compelling from start to finish. This was a complete revelation when I first heard it, and that was well after hearing the likes of Kind of Blue, Bitche's Brew, Birth of the Cool, and Sketches of Spain. This was the album that convinced me of Miles' genius.

My favorite Miles Davis album as well. Just a beautiful mantra that soothes me anytime I put it on. Totally agree on the lineup of musicians. Literally a who's who.

I'm always amazed by hearing Tony Williams' approach on this album, most of the album is one beat, and he doesn't play the head of the snare drum until almost the end of the record. He had Bruce Lee discipline behind the kit.
