Brilliant album! Costello, struggling to find the appropriate settings for his new songs, mined his collection of Stax and Motown singles for inspiration. The result - Get Happy!!, a 20 track LP that features some of the most manic material Costello ever released. Highlights abound - the frantic "The Imposter," the psychedelic "New Amsterdam," and the hushed creepiness of "Secondary Modern" are just a few notables on a record that rarely flags. This may not be my favourite Costello record - that's a tie between his next two collections of original material - but it's still the artist right in the middle of the career defining hot streak, that, in the eyes of many fans, he never quite reached again. It's essential for any Costello fan or newbie.

Anyone interested in finding the classic 2.30 minute pop song will find a treasure trove in Get Happy. Just a pinch behind This Year's Model as his best.

Just listened to this for the first time. I've never listened to any Elvis Costello before.
It sounds like a lot of fun. Lots of short high energy tracks with some catchy melodies. Costello has a very distinctive voice with some kind of wild vibrato which I kind of like. Will be checking out more of his stuff (about time) and will be revisiting this soon.
