I liked [i]Platform on first listen. I think some people are confusing 'challenging' for 'I just don't like this'.
i'm responding to the ratings here. it's got a really low score, so i'm assuming the average person found it very challenging to listen to. melon didn't like it cause of the ASMR stuff. but it's a very rewarding album.... even the ASMR stuff starts to shine after a few listens, which i found challenging at first. obviously, Chorus is an easy track to listen to, but the album as a whole has some difficult spots.
i think that when something is "challenging", there's an implication that there are characteristics that you don't necessarily like (at first), which make it difficult to appreciate at first.
so yeah, i stand by what i said. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.

Yup - I think both apply. Often challenging means you can't understand/appreciate it completely, so therefore it is difficult to like.
It's like eating healthy... cinnamon toast crunch vs shredded wheat. Shredded wheat is perfectly good... but is tough to digest to be frank. Sometimes shredded wheat isn't liked, much like challenging music, because it is too healthy, hard to eat sometimes, etc. Music, in my opinion, should at least be 50% aesthetically pleasing. If it is JUST challenging just to mess with you, I give the finger to that guy cause I think he's an asshat. I'm not listening to your mixolydian 13th chords with a time signature change every 30 seconds just so you can show off.

No problem - I get the reason for Platform being here, I agree it deserves more of a chance given the low ratings - I gave it 85 and it is in my top 10 for 2015.
My comments were more directed at this:

Couldn't agree more about Joana Newsom album. Her voice should be used as a torture device. I actually listened to the whole album, as I have been determined to listen to the Top 1000 of BEA's Overall Chart. It was excruciating. I did other things with it on quietly in the background and though I didn't wat to commit a mass murder, like you, I felt like jumping out the window lol. It was painful. Why am I so OCD that I didn't turn it off? I had to tick off that I listened to it.
Incidentally, New York Tendaberry is a great shout. I love Laura Nyro but this album was hard work... Got there in the end though. _________________ http://distranscontinuum.blogspot.co.uk/

Alll of these are albums that made me say "I don't know if I could sit through this entire album without committing suicide and/ or going on a shooting spree". These albums are the very definition of the word TEDIOUS. They qualify as torture devices.
Its already been dealt with, but with the exception of Metal Machine Music, I couldn't disagree more. I loved both Ys and 69 Love Songs from first listen. Can understand disliking Joanna's voice though - its certainly not conventional. I'd like to hear why you don't like 69, however.

Agreed. I have no time to listen to musical exercises and elaborations of theories.
I sat through 20 minutes of the first part of Disintegration Loops the other day. It was quite beautiful actually, but I have a life and shit to do and my day can't allow another 40 minutes of essentially the same thing.
There are probably a few people on here studying or working in music in some capacity whose life's work is to come to an understanding with the very edges of experimental and avant-garde music. I'm envious to some degree because there's a lot of music fatally beyond my reach, but we can't be and do everything.
I love music, I listen to it as much as time allows, but it has to have some degree of entertainment value because the assimilation of music knowledge has no intrinsic value to me.
Was there an America's Got Talent contestant called that? What was the act?
No, my last name is Mirocke, pronounced like myrrh-rock. So, growing up I had a lot of nicknames revolving around "rock".
A "Chief Rocka" is "The main man, the head honcho, the number one guy." based on this song by the hip hop group Lords of The Underground. So, it's a pun and a nickname in one.
Edit: It's always funny to me whenever a group or musician with underground or a way to denote obscurity in their name has a hit single or album (Lords of the Underground in this case)
