This was the best rated Russian album on rateyourmusic, and comments about it made mention of Beirut so I thought why not. It's great indeed, a bit unusual, but it manages to stay accessible all along so it was a really good first listen. Looking forward to checking it again when I have the time. It's not really like Beirut though haha
It's not much like Air but closer to something like RJD2 or even Massive Attack at times. There are often vocalists though, both rappers (on Walk The Line for example, which is very good, though the beat is clearly the best aspect of the song) and singers (Our Dance), though the instrumental tracks work just as well (Hypnosis Theme with its repetitive cello (?) theme is brilliant). I'd say there are slightly too many spoken bits (at least one every song, plus interludes/skits), but they go pretty well with the music so it's not too bad. All in all it's a very good record. It does definitely not sound like Beirut though
