Originally slated for 3 album's to be released 6 month's apart , 'Stadium Arcadium' was instead released as a mammoth 2 hour double album which can be daunting to the uninitiated on early listens. Let's be honest - there's a lot to take to absorb , but fear not I'm here to help , having done the leg work for you. Please find below my Stadium Arcadium Survival Guide

Step 1
Obtain Digital Copy of 'Stadium Arcadium'

Step 2
Create 2 Playlist Folders , name one "Stadium Arcadium" and name the other "Stadium Arcadium Should Have Been B-Sides"

Step 3
In to the "Stadium Arcadium" playlist add the 5 album singles plus the 9 tracks listed below, tracks 1 and 2 need to be "Dani California" followed by "Tell Me Baby" and the final track must be Death Of a Martian" but every other track can be in any order of your choosing. Your Playlist should look something like this
(1) Dani California (single)
(2) Tell Me Baby (single)
(3) Snow (Hey Ho) (single)
(4) Desecration Smile (single)
(5) Hump de Bump (single)
(6) Stadium Arcadium
(7) Slow Cheetah
(8) Torture Me
(9) C'mon Girl
(10) Wet Sand
(11) 21st Century
(12) Ready Made
(13) Make You Feel Better
(14) Death of a Martian

Step 4
Move all remaining tracks into the "Stadium Arcadium Should Have Been B-Sides" Playlist

Step 5
Delete the "Stadium Arcadium Should Have Been B-Sides" Playlist as I can guarantee you'll never listen to it

I'm probably in the minority when I say this, but I think this is their best album. It may not have some of the big and timeless hits as their other albums did and Dani California was played WAY too much on the radio, but I cannot find a bad song on this album. That's amazing for a 28 song album. There are only a few that I would say are average, but the rest are above average or real good.

My favorites are Snow(Hey Oh), Charlie, Desecration Smile, Tell Me Baby, and Readymade.

It could be said that there is a "sequencing flaw" with this album, and it could also be said that there is a fair share of filler (which pretty much any double-album will have) but the majority of this album is pure ear-candy, with excellent musicians to back it up. Fruciante puts on a clinic on several tracks, Flea is Flea, and Chad's drumming is solid as usual. Anthony manages to croon out some beautiful songs as well, as what makes this album special are the incredible melodies in the songs (i.e. Snow, Slow Cheetah, She Looks to Me, etc.) And of course the singles are awesome as usual. Here we have an older, experienced, been to hell & back, seasoned group of musicians making some beautiful music, and it's a pleasure to these ears.

wow... so many haters...

I love this album... it has the melodic beauty of By The Way, without being boring and has the hard rock and funk of Californication and BSSM... at times I think this is their best album with all parts of the band at their height. I do agree there is a bit of filler, but at the same time the filler at least has this unique sound on the bass or something that makes it stand out. The filler isn't crap, just not on par with AMAZING, as the rest is.Make you feel better and storm in a teacup for example aren't that great, but they aren't bad either. I still rate them 80.

Really not sure why this isn't rated higher. I love this album so much. The songs are so diverse and unique but every one of them still has that Chili Pepper essence. I like this album even a little more than Blood Sugar and Californication, both wonderful records in their own right. There are a number of great deep tracks on the record like Animal Bar, Hey, and Especially In Michigan that stand up to songs like Snow and Dani California which became big radio hits. The riffs are infectious, the lyrics are (for the most part) deep, and it's an AWESOME record start to finish, a very enjoyable listen.
