Senator Ted Cruz has just released a radio ad that's a song, attacking Democratic challenger Beto O'Rourke. It seems to be a parody of "If You're Gonna Play In Texas" by Alabama. In it, he makes fun of his opponent for using the nickname Beto instead of his given name Robert, despite the fact that Cruz uses the nickname Ted instead of his given name Rafael. And musically, it's one of the worst campaign songs I've ever heard. Check it out:
On the flip side, a classic campaign song is "M.T.A.", written for the 1949 Boston mayoral election and the failed campaign of Progressive Party candidate Walter O'Brien. The most popular version is probably by the Kingston Trio, which changes the words a bit:
