Wonderful Prog from Greece.
5 minutes into Spiral is probably the most amazing moment in music.

Started listening to Homogenic by Bjรถrk but I skipped tracks 5-9 because they sound less better than the rest.
I'm midway through Thick as a Brick, I haven't got used to the song so it'll 2 or 3 times to memorize it in my head.
I have listened to all of The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady by Charles Mingus once but I barely remember the tracks, same goes with Close to the Edge by Yes, SMiLE by The Beach Boys and Lift Your Skinny Fist Like Antennas to Heaven by Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

I am willed to listen to:

  • Spiderland by Slint
  • Ys by Joanna Newsom
  • Lonerism by Tame Impala

I am with you man. I can't get on with that Yes album, with Homogenic , with the Mingus album or with Smile. And I didn't used to like Jethro Tull although they are growing on me slightly. That discordant flute annoys me though! And I own Smile and Close To The Edge on CD!! Impulse buys.

I don't always enjoy highly rated albums on here. As for Joanna Newsom, I think she sounds like a cat being put through a mangler (ancient device used for drying laundry by wringing water out of them). I would rather boil my own head than listen to her.

Get to find your own music you like. Check out people's charts for ideas that's what I did.

Spiderland is brilliant though IMO.

Haha ๐Ÿคฃ , thanks for expressing your opinions!

I've heard "Peach, Plum, Pear" by Joanna Newsom once and it was kinda cute for me, Her voice is great in a funny and a bit ridiculous way, although I only hate the her voice multiplying in some parts of the song. Perhaps I'll be annoyed if I hear her voice repeatedly in the future when I'll listen to it ๐Ÿ˜œ .

I've heard Close to the Edge twice but not at a point to memorize the tracks in my head, but parts from the tracks I remember are those I liked the best because they sound brilliant to me.

I guess I'm not a big fan of Jazz, since I haven't found myself enjoying listening Mingus and "So What" by Miles Davis, but I gotta give more tries.

I have listened SMiLE twice. You feel there's a lot of stuff going on the more you keep listening, not a bad thing, even though it makes the album crazy in a good way for me. Perhaps there are to many instrumental tracks and you can't recognize when a track ends and when a track starts.

I've seen some charts by people, actually, those with the highest average rating and I have and I have found albums to be interested at:

  • Tago Mago by Can - Enjoyed listening Paperhouse, Mushroom, Bring Me Coffee or Tea and especially, Halleluhwah !!! ๐Ÿ˜ . Jaki's drum skills are amazing, I might think of him as the best drummer ever, but I don't know much about Bonzo and Keith Moon. Damo's singing is kinda annoying for me, but he's unique and very weird, love this guy. I gave up very quickly listening to Augmn, since it's a very long instrumental track that I find very boring, even though I like it "creepiness". The same goes to me Peking O. Seems a very good album, I'm gonna listen to it again soon.
  • Spiderland - I'm definitely gonna listen to it, in fact, I've listened to the first song and it amazed me.

I don't enjoy many highly rated albums here too. I'm afraid to say which ones because I believe will get furious on me.

I have to Animals by Pink Floyd lately. I haven't got used to the songs but it was very awesome listening to it. It has a very cool vibe of Floyd that I've never listened from DSotM, WYWH and The Wall. I might consider it as one of the best albums of all time, or maybe I'm just extremely impressed, hehe.

Again, thanks, Stover75, for answering me! ๐Ÿ˜„
