Fwiw Miles Davis is in the hall, although I'd guess that's because the voters defined fusion as part of rock. Nina Simone is the only other artist with jazz output in the hall, and she had a lot of releases that could be classified as blues or soul.
Likewise, I don't personally care for everything that is and isn't in the Hall of Fame. And I don't put any credibility into it.
However, the museum is pretty cool, and I recommend visiting.
By the way baystateoftheart, what other Hall of Fames are trashy?
My statement was too broad. I just meant the inductee selections of halls of fame, not the museums themselves, which are usually cool. The only other hall of fame that I have paid much attention to the induction process for is baseball. I used to be absolutely obsessed with the sport back when I played myself, and I am still a fan. There is little rhyme or reason to the selections, they don't follow their own stated criteria with any regularity, and some incredibly mediocre players are now in the hall (cough cough Jack Morris cough cough). _________________ Join us in the canon game :) / Add me on RYM
As you all may or may not have heard, the Rock Hall of Fame has announced it's nominees for 2019.
The nominees are as follow:
* The Cure
* Def Leppard
* Devo
* Janet Jackson
* John Prine
* Kraftwerk
* LL Cool J
* MC5
* Radiohead
* Rage Against the Machine
* Roxy Music
* Rufus featuring Chaka Khan
* Stevie Nicks
* The Zombies
* Todd Rundgren
Yeah. This seems like a great list to me. I don't really know Rufus at all, but really dig all the others. I LOVE early Def Leppard. lol. Psyched to see John Prine mentioned.
If I had to pick five (if that's how it's done) ...
1. The Cure
2. Kraftwerk
3. MC5
4. Def Leppard
5. Roxy Music

Jack Morris was one of the most reliable, consistent pitchers for over a decade. Part of his career was the during the Roid Era and he faced DHs his whole career, so those might have impacted his career numbers. But I agree his HoF credentials are questionable. Ha, I didn't know you were a baseball fan. You haven't commented on the MLB thread in the Lounge section (but then again, there isn't much interest there in general and I won't probably won't host it again in 2019). Are we gonna have a Red Sox-Dodgers World Series?
But anyway, back on topic. HoF museums are cool, Rock and Roll included, even if we don't agree with all their inductions and omissions.
