This is an OK album by Coil under the pseudonym, "Time Machines". I could get into some of the tracks, which have a few riveting moments, but they weren't sustained.
Seems I just missed missed reccing Bark Psychosis to Baystate. Purplepash, your're getting The Cars. A fantastic album.

So I remember back when I started tackling the 2001 list where while I thought that Is This It? by the Strokes was a good to even being a great album, I somewhat wasn't convinced that it was the best album for 2001. And after listening to the debut for B.R.M.C, I could say that this album is a way better album. To the point where if a miracle occur to rise in the ranks for 01 I can understand. For one I love how this album has tracks that feel quite dense where for me you can get lost within it's hazy backdrop. Has a psych rock or for me feels a bit shoegaze. But I also like how there are grooves that can get stuck in your head. Hell as I typing this I want to see if the deluxe version on I Tunes if the bonus tracks are as good as the album tracks.
Grade:95. But if the bonus tracks are dope, you could see another 100 coming real soon.

Hell yeah! This record kicks serious ass. Loved it when it came out. Still love it now. A Shoegaze-Garage Rock sandwich that could feed a riff starved army. Personally, I think The Strokes Is This It is OVERALL chart worthy, but this album is certainly year & even decade chart worthy and I'm throwing it into my 2001 chart momentarily.
Listening to "Awake" rn which reminds me of early Verve which is always a very good thing indeed. ๐

"I hate whiny fucking songs like this / But I can't afford a therapist." That line basically sums up this album lyrically. When it comes to the singing, frontman Sean Bonnette seems to be a graduate of the Conor Oberst school of vocals. Instrumentally, it's solid, but there's nothing particularly captivating. There are a few good songs and interesting moments, but this felt longer than its 43 minutes and is not going to have much replay value for me. 2.5/5.

I had to check that out to make sure this wasn't a lie and it is a long one. I would say maybe considering with me at least I would space the listening by disc to disc. I had to do that with the Queen collection from 2000. And I also did that with other albums like The Epic or Autechre's 2018 album which totals to 8 hours. But I think it just comes down to completion.
This fit the exact vibe I was looking for. It owes a lot to the first Air album, and some other downtempo that came before it, but it has a consistent quality throughout that will make this an album I return to again. I had heard a few tracks before, and I'm glad that the rest of the album lived up to it.
This album can be found on Bertrandu's "All-time Downtempo" chart, and, if you have never checked out one of his charts on this site, then I'd highly recommend it.
Baystate, it wouldn't be my choice for their best album, but listen to The Cramps comp, "Off The Bone", there's some winners in there. Although, it does help to have a working knowledge of rockabilly, country, and surf music to fully appreciate their covers.

This album start really well with the three singles, which were radio staples when I was growing up, followed up with I'm In Touch With Your World, which I hadn't heard before, but was my favourite song on the album from this listen. After that it's all good but nothing that matches the first four songs. I give it a high 7.5/10. I haven't heard many albums in full from 1978 so it comes in at 4/9 in my yearly chart - although it's not the best new wave album of 1978 - that honour goes to Devo's debut, and 76/100 for the '70s. Good fun!

So I remember when I listen to this album and gave this a 75 a lot earlier in my listening career. But now I think this album is a lot better than before. For some reason, the big hit from this album Can't Get You Out Of My Head is track that I still like a lot but am somewhat weirded out by Kylie's vocals, especially after the second chorus? It actually dawned on me that the structure isn't the same verse chorus style in music though that might not be obvious. I will say the second to last track is probably my personal favorite since that track somehow takes me back when I was a little kid playing Super Monkey Ball for the first time. Otherwise this is a great pop album. Not the best from Kylie. There are other records that are way better from there musical palettes or the way she presents herself. As well as not the best pop album of 2001 considering the next album on this list to me is better. Otherwise Grade it's a 85 but could be a 80.

I've listened to some Wolf Eyes (and Aaron Dilloway) before, but never a full album. This was a good one to start with, as it was early in their career. It's some decent noise/industrial stuff that does a good job of keeping the listener engaged with a wide variety of bleeps and odd sounds.
Aaliyah's self-titled is what I would go with Luigii.

Agreed. But it's certainly number 2!!! And The Cars best. One of the best New Wave albums of the 70s easy. Completely decade chart worthy stuff and will find a high place in my 1978 chart. My favorite track is actually Moving In Stereo, but the entire album is crazy solid.
