I am nearly in physical pain looking through the long list of great albums you've rated lower than this 🤣

It looks like you're following the generally acknowledged charts of Greatest Albums. And they are. But one needs to follow their heart. Of those first 40 albums you listed, surely there must be some that appeal to you more than others. Maybe follow those artists out, and come to some kind of understanding. There is always time then, to delve onto other artists and genres. I can post here and say that IMO "Star Time" , James Brown is some of the greatest music ever put down, but it could leave you cold. I have always believed that discovering music is a journey.

meh. it gets more roast than it merits. i mean, it's not a great album, but it's not entirely unbearable. there were a couple songs on here that i thought were the sweetest piss ever when i was 13, so i got to give them some credit for that. they presented themselves as a rock band, but they were mostly a boys band writing pop music for the edgy kids. to be honest, i hadn't listened to this record in years and tried to listen through it after posting it here the other day, and i don't think i quite made it through a single track. i quite nearly made it through arms wide open and higher though.

my rating though... i gave it a 60. i rate on average much, much higher than most people here. a 60 isn't a great score for me. it probably means something like, "i'm disappointed mostly because i know you could've done better". i generally reserve sub-50s for musicians that really couldn't've done any better.

Haha!

I was never clear whether he was asking for recs to buy or to listen to. I imagine he, like many of us, still has albums he really likes he hasn't bought yet, so he should probably pick up those before seeking purchase recs from a music forum -- especially with all the options to listen to albums before you buy these days.
