Live! by Fela Kuti & Africa 70 With Ginger Baker

Really good album, but it's super overrated in Fela's discography. I wouldn't put it in his top twenty albums. I also don't think it's the best thing he made with Ginger Baker on board. This is:

Everyone should just give Fela/Ginger Live and Buena Vista Social Club a listen anyway ๐Ÿ˜

They go well together.

Getting on that Wobbly release.

That'd be nice - if you can't find it, just start over. I'll bet most would be just glad if you consistently participated and started over.

Also - looking forward to getting some Fela/Ginger... and thanks for the rec bay - be well ya'll.

Dark Days & Canapes by Ghostpoet
This one was much better than Some Say I So I Say Light. I had no idea who ghostpoet was before this game lol. Anyways, Dark Days is an improvement on all fronts. I liked Some Say I a lot, it was an interesting and unique listen, but I think I like it less now than when I initially listened to it (gave it 7.5 I think). It was a bit monotone and samey, both in the instrumental and in vocal department. There is much more variety with the beats here, there's a lot more electronic and rock influences. His delivery is less rap bars, and more singing, which isn't necessarily better, but it does makes for a more diverse album. And of course the songs themselves are much more memorable. There's not a weak track here, fabulous stuff. Loved it, 8/10

Live! by Fela Kuti & Africa 70 With Ginger Baker

Pretty good jam here. Reminds me of my family. I wouldn't be dying to play this any time soon, but if it were on again, I'd totally dig listening to it again. Good jam music.

2. Kyuss - Blues For The Red Sun, easy choice for me here, even if it isn't my favorite stuff.

Wincing The Night Away by The Shins

I'm a big fan of Chutes Too Narrow, and while this is definitely a step down it still has a lot of the things that I like about that album, including great hooks and Mercer's fantastic vocals. I'll be listening to this again, and it also makes me want to listen to Oh Inverted World, which I've never been a fan of, to see if my views on it have improved over the years.

Shaft by Isaac Hayes

This is what I'd listen to off of your list next.

Shaft by Isaac Hayes

I liked Hot Buttered Soul better in some ways but in other ways the orchestration is pretty top notch (albeit rich in that 70s corny stuff I am less a fan of) /unique collection of work/could be considered great pending on my mood. Pretty ok for today though even if the title track, Do Your Thing (pretty impressive 20 minute jam) and Soulsville I dug - 3.5/80.

2. Saxophone Colossus by Sonny Rollins is pretty good/best of the bunch from what I remember.

Double Cup by DJ Rashad

Took me awhile to get around to this album, but I'm glad I finally listened to this thing. I'm still unsure of what Foorwork is as a genre, I mean, I understand some technial differences between it and other House or Instrumental hip hop music, but I get the same vibes from it, so that's all that really matters to me. It's interesting to see some of the polarizing takes on this album, some hailing it a masterpiece and others not quite bashing it, but not impressed in the slightest. I find myself leaning towards the first group, as I was thoroughly entertained while listening to this album, even if it does get a bit repetitious. (And I know repetition). Happy to put it near the end of the decade chart, because Footwork was an important thing to gain popularity in the past decade.

Seth, Flamin' Groovies are great.

Pop by Gas

This started out okay enough with the first two tracks, but I guess that's all there was to offer. The rest of the album is meandering and insipid. It just seems really flat and seems to be uninspired recycling...this came out in 2002 for all I know.
