OK, tribal/dark ambient that starts off well, but never really gains any steam for it's hour long runtime. It does provide a good creepy atmosphere though.
Jameth, I would go with Suzanne Ciani; she's cool.

Before I get to the feature presentation , Damn Jameth you did Pop dirty. I'd argue if your not into the vibe of the record, it could seem simple in nature. I remember turning away before giving the album a full listen. But I will say that Pop is very deceptive where while it could be simple, it is quite layered. Won't tell you what is in there but there are multiple tones that are occurring in each track. Also it was from the beginning of the new millennium. Now Let's begin because...

Holy shit! This was wonderful. If there was one thing I remembered before listening to this was how Anthony Fantano mentioned how Earthgang was getting these nods from people how they were being herald as the next Outkast yet mention how a record like this was getting ignored. And while I haven't listen to Earthgang just yet, I do get Outkast vibes from this album. Hell I was getting some To Pimp A Butterfly vibes from this album as well. And that is mainly due to the music. Because while the album starts off as a hip hop album, this goes into multiple directions. From the dreamy neo soul of the second half of disc one to the blues/folk hybrid of Miss Georgia Fornia to the last leg where it goes into jazz this is quite an ambitious record and would say this pays off for the most part.
So if there was a weakness for this album and this is realistically a me thing, I'd argue that while there is no main track I would get rid of, I did feel a bit fatigued through the second half. Even when I was enjoying this. The only other thing I would mention would be the second interlude. The first one I was fine with because that was quite hilarious and segway into my favorite track, which I want to write about that track. The second interlude while not bad, just didn't do much for me. So grade wise this is a 95 and could be a 100. And if you haven't heard this album, give this a listen. Also I feel like I could type a lot more about this album because I enjoy this a lot and wished I listen to this album earlier.
Now let me type about Aux Cord. This that track that had me repeating it after it was over. But I love how this track Krit goes to explain that while you can jam to trap bangers, there is a treasure trove of music from the culture. Similar to Slow Jamz but I'd argue this track was more clever with its references. As well as musically speaking this was such a ๐ฒ moment. From it's dreamy synths and killer rock chords, to where that drum pattern changes into a hi hat breakdown at the 1:35 mark. Then the vocals at the 2:00 minute mark that just describe the feeling I get from this track. And then by the last 60 seconds of this track, where I'm just in awe about it. Like if anyone takes this track away from me within the second half of the 2010 tracks game, I'll probably cuss a storm that might get me banned from this site.

Ah okay, it did come out in 2000 (Apple Music was showing 2016, they always use reissue dates for some reason). That makes more sense.
Iโll give it another shot when I get some new headphones. Iโm using $20 headphones, which are fine for rock but probably betray subtler music. _________________ Can you play free, or in three, or agree to try something new?
It's a Theo Parrish compilation. Some great tracks and some so-so, but all better than your average house producer.
JPEGMAFIA is a much different hip hop experience than Big Krit.

For RoundTheBend, I need to give Narkopop another listen before I could give an analysis why I enjoy that album. Maybe later on in the year.
Back to the feature presentation.

It isn't my favorite album within the experimental hip hop sphere. But I will say it was quite fascinating. For one, Peggy got to move that mouse cursor over that album cover. But on an album level, I will say that I do admire that this starts off as a trap record but as the first song finishes, this goes into some strange directions. It definitely sounds like an album that wouldn't have been released in the early 2010's or the late 2000's and get individuals listening to it. But I will also say lyrically, when JPEG throws these references, it just gets me quite giddy. I think where my caveats comes from, it would be that musically. While there is a lot I enjoyed about it, I think the whole package is as welcoming or feel refined. Still think it is great but not a top 100 for the decade. Grade:85
Now you would think this is a bit of a shotty write up, And you would be right. And that is mainly due to listening to his next album from 2019. And to me All My Hero's Are Cornballs is just way better. And keep in mind that a few things that I mention for his 2019 album can be related to Veteran. I just prefer Cornballs more. For one Jpegmafia oddly reminds me of Viper and his cult classic album from 2008. This hazy, hypnagogic vibe just hits a certain chord with me. As well as how this album just goes to one passage to another seamlessly. Kinda sounds like if John Oswald's Plexure was more subdued and was able to breathe. Also I really enjoy the autotune on this album. I could begin and say Jpeg's vocal inflections reminds me of a somewhat warped stylings that Romanthony did during Daft Punk's Discovery. But I'd go even further and say that musically this is what 808's and Heartbreaks should have been. No disrespect on 808's, a classic even if I don't like it as much as other individuals. But there is this feeling that I have that Cornballs just hits harder on a personal level.
I think the only argument that I could have is how those references that were on Veteran aren't on Cornballs. But Cornballs just does way more. To finish this off, I will say if more artists from soundcloud were ambitious as this, I'd be more lenient. But Peggy is definitely a force to be reckoned with, and am excited for what he will put out next.
For Cornballs, that gets a 90 and could grow higher to a 95 or maybe a 100. And if I ever get to my year charts, Veteran would make my top 100 for 2018. Cornballs I'd argue would be top 30 maybe even top 20. Also Cornnballs would be an honorable mention for the decade. And if it doesn't get that, I'm gonna be pissed.

Blues For The Red Sun by Kyuss
It's better than Welcome to the Sky Valley! Yes, I said it. The guitars are just so thicc, fuzzy and warm. I could listen to them for hours. It's longer, and not as consistent as Sky Valley though, but there aren't tracks that I thought were dull the whole way through or something like that. It's just a question of diversity I guess, although I don't particularly need diversity when listening to stoner/desert rock album. Some tracks did have quieter sections, like the epic 50 Million Year Trip, which may be my favourite on the album. It's also rawer than anything Homme related I've heard before, love that. Anyways, only the 2nd Kyuss album I've listened to, and it's my favourite Homme work along with SFTD. 8.5/10

Go with Let England Shake, I've loved that album since 2011, but listened to it a few months ago, and it was even better than I had remembered.

Prior to this I had heard her great compilation Respect M.E. (thanks dbz), but never an album. This is interesting because it's basically as much of an r&b album as it is a hip-hop album. The rapping is surprisingly scarce. While Missy has a smooth flow and good hooks, she's not super impressive here as an emcee, and carries the album more through her charisma than through technical ability or lyrical content. The most exciting verse belongs to Da Brat on Sock It 2 Me. The beats, while very of their time, are quite good. Missy and Timbaland demonstrate that they know how to craft a pop hit, and this is a fun listen, even if it wasn't exactly what I was hoping for from #5 on the list. 3.5/5.

Another jazz album that isn't quite my speed. Good playing throughout but everything kind of blended together for me. I imagine someone more well versed in jazz would be able to better point out the things that make this album good. Despite the name I enjoyed the piano here more than the saxophone.
I was similarly surprised at the lack of rapping when I listened to Supa Dupa Fly. I think that kind of turned me off of it because it really wasn't what I was expecting. I should go back and give it another try some time. This is my favorite off of your list Baystate. Not a huge fan overall but "Winter" is a tremendous song.
