It's also a pretty short record. Less than 30 minutes for sure. I think you might dig itโ It's hardcore-punk, but with the structure and musicianship you'd want out of a standard rock album. Fairly melodic too. It never really verges thrash metal, but still goes hard. Usually this sort of stuff (post '99-ish) doesn't grab my attention, but I thought this was pretty good. I also dig the cover... looks like a tape you'd out of a bin from the late 80s.
The Vaselines EP is worth giving a spin no matter what. Sport intermissions are longer. _________________ Doubles & Conch
Buscabulla released an EP some number of years ago (2014? 2015?) and I really dug it, but then they... kinda left. Happy to see them back in 2020 with a solid electro-pop record with a Latin flare. Sharp, short, well-mixedโ nothing particularly sticks too hard, and there aren't any standouts, but there's not really anything to dislike. The good side of average.
Rwanda has a weird little music boom in 2019. Hasn't trickled into 2020, but I suppose few things have. This is an album centred around the Inanga, an instrument that kinda looks like a backgammon board. It's decent, worth a spin, not sure if it's worth two though.

Skeleton was fantastic, just the burst of energy I needed today. A bit short and not anything groundbreaking, but still landed pretty high on my 2020 chart. Sounds like a lost Hellhammer demo. ... might need to do some googling. I was under the impression they were from Kazakhstan and were based in Texas (going by RYM/Bandcamp). Can't seem to find a solid answer though.

Dream-y jangly stuff that's not too dreamy and not too jangly, but there's good spirit and good heartโ some solid tracks in the mix. Instrumentals are the best part.
New release. Think it only came out this week. Very FKA Twigs-esque, Bjork-y, and honestly not too shabby. Fantastic production, sounds especially great on headphones. Makes my 2020 chart with ease.

Just spent the past while trawling through this thread from your first run through right up to now and was pleasantly surprised to see a small bit of notes as Gaeilge in the midst of it all. Top choices aswell in terms of Irish music (I'll let the reference to Ireland as part of the British Isles from way back slide, can't say we're the biggest fans of that over here ๐คฃ ), aswell as those of other countries no doubt (at least the stuff I've heard anyway...).
Quality as always though, I'd try recommend some stuff but you've got most of your bases covered and I wouldn't even know where to begin irregardless.
So yeah, bit of a pointless comment with very little to add, just wanted to pay my compliments to a top notch thread (plus I can now find this easily via my comment history when I inevitably want to roll through it for recs again years down the line). _________________

Def not a pointless comment, every contribution's welcome. Glad to hear your enjoying the choices, and I'm hoping you can find a few new ones down the line. There's legit been some great finds throughout this, and at least a few 9/10s. I'll admit, I might have to comb through my first round to remember some of the picks, but I try not to post records I don't like (unless I'm desperate to find something from that country... *cough* Qatar...*cough*). I have to figure out something from North Korea soon, and I haven't a clue what. Might not be great :lol:.
I do think this project is something I'd recommend people taking on. Maybe skip some of the lesser islands and whatnot, but with the internet age it isn't overly difficult to find something from every country, and it doesn't have to be like... y'know... 'library music'. At the end of the day it isn't too many albums, and the outlook you gain is great. The expansion of music this last decade in particular has really changed the 'sound' you might expect from some parts of the world. The innovation coming out of east Africa and Latin America has me looking forward to what's going to come out of there in the next few years. Digging though 80s tapes from Indonesia has been wild. They were doing stuff back then that sounds like Bjork/Arca, etc now, and some things that sounds like nothing else at all.
Glad you like the Ireland picks ๐ (apologies for the "reference to Ireland as part of the British Isles way back"... I don't particularly remember it, but I have learned since 8-[). Definitely wanted to swing more towards heritage Ireland than say Aphex Twin or MBV. I'm finding there's this unique haunting warmth to a lot of the Gaelic folk music, and I'm not sure I've heard that sound mimicked elsewhere in the world. I gave this a spin while posting the 2000s poll. Paid as much attention as possible, but it did kinda float overtop everything. The production's a little different than I expected, very cloudlike, warm, lethargic. Going to have to give it another spin sometime soon.
