I like Halftime, but I just like Fourth of July better, even if it's not in my personal Sufjan S tier.

Fourth of July is my favorite song off Carrie & Lowell, and one of only a few songs that can make me tear up just by thinking about it. I think the repetition of Sufjan and his mother's pet names for each other is pretty genius, and the "my dragonfly" and "my little loon" lines in particular always make me lose it.

I like Thugger a lot and this is another reminder that I need to check out more of his pre-Jeffrey stuff but I can't vote against Sufjan here.

Sometimes I feel like hip-hop has gotten just as stale as dad rock.

Easy vote for Sufjan.

I actually voted against my own nomination this time. Simply a bad draw for Thugger against what I see as a potential victor.

There is something about the wooziness of Halftime that appealed to me. Not sure I've ever really enjoyed a Young Thug song before.

'Halftime' wouldn't have been my personal pick from Barter 6 - which, incidentally, is the last time Young Thug felt truly exciting, before his style was co-opted almost wholesale by an as yet neverending stream of younger, less imaginative, though often wildly successful rappers - but it still has a freshness and spontaneity, as well as an incredibly dextrous command of flow, that emphasises most of Thug's strengths. I really like this Sufjan song too, but vote to 'Halftime'.

Yeah this. Barter 6 is the last time Thug felt fresh and the Fourth of July is pleasant and all but it's also the precursor of the washy post Call Me By Your Name type Suf sound that's been slowly driving me away from him.

Halftime is really good but far from my favorite 2015-19 Thugger track. I think the Slime Season trilogy is his peak in terms of projects, and he also has some excellent singles like Pacifier. All coming after Barter 6.

Fourth Of July has my vote.
