this is actually a nostalgic album for me
I was 16 when it was released and bopped to Give It Away down my local indie disco.
I like Under The Bridge a lot even though I have seriously overheard it. But, as Anthony Keidis said even Mums like that song. Or Grannies, as they'll be now.
Breaking The Girl and My Lovely Man are cool too.

All RHCP albums are "too" long if you don't actually appreciate them.
I do. And I think this album is great.

Music for people who say they're going on a vacation to Venice but they mean Venice Beach.

I was thinking earlier that maybe I just don't like RHCP because theirs is a style or subgenre or whatever that just doesn't do it for me, but then I remembered that Rage were able to synthesise hard rock and punk with funk flourishes and shouty rap-influenced vocals without sounding like a bunch of stoner-jock lamewads enjoying the smell of their own farts, so I think it has less to do with their weapon of choice and more to do with them coming across as choice weapons. _________________ 2021 in full effect. I think a factor of it was them getting off drugs before this album. Those 80s RHCP albums are a lot of fun and IMO less annoying.
