I'm pretty sure you've heard all of the rap I've liked this year, but in case you haven't:
first jam city album in 5 years, and following the mediocre half baked dream a garden i really didn't expect him to pull it out the bag but man... this is wild. draws influence from pc music amongst other things, a scene of which grew from the foundations jam city and night slugs pals helped to lay. it's all come full circle and i LOVE it. the hypnotic r&b from dream a garden is still here, but with much better songwriting and production value so i can get down to it. his best full-length imo and this is the man who released timeless iconic masterpiece classical curves _________________
Haven't seen anyone mention this yet. A little power pop, nothing crazy but it was quite enjoyable.
I listened to this one a little while back. I liked the opening track quite a bit, but nothing else on the album clicked with me. Wanted to like it more than I actually did. Glad you enjoyed it though!

I actually thought the song "Tides" towards the end of the album was the standout for me. "Local Radio" (the opening track) and "Party with the Kids Who Wanna Party with You" seem to be the most popular though. Overall I think the album's weaker than their last album, and I'm thinking it'll be fairly forgettable, but it was just... pleasant while I listened to it _________________ 51 Washington, D.C. albums!
Yesterday I purchased at the Amazon website the newest release from LeAnn Rimes. I understand her reason for making it, but I like when songs have more lyrics because then what we hear from the singer isn't as repetitive.

As usual, I don't recognize a lot. Glad to see stuff like Delphine Dora and More Eaze/claire rousay getting recognition. Glad that distinctive solo instrumentalists like Mary Lattimore and Heather Leigh are still remembered, but odd that past favorites like Julianna Barwick and Laura Cannell are absent. I enjoyed PLUS significantly more than SIGN, but how can you evaluate one so highly and omit the other? Also, for a publication that highlights musicians trying to explode boundaries coming from a rock perspective, its few jazz picks are a little too inside, though I suspect Parker, Alcorn, and Wooley's SSM will be popular picks for jazz this year, along with Halvorson's Code Girl, Anna Hogberg Attack, and Ent'racte, with an outside chance of Matthew Shipp, Jeremiah Cymerman, or Tashi Dorji showing up.
