hope you enjoy. also reading your quote realizing I didn't mean to say Japanese as I'm almost certain that's a Chinese name oops ๐Ÿซข (although I have been having trouble finding much information about the guy in the way of biography beyond what shows up on his soundcloud, do let me know if you happen to stumble across anything)

A Beginner's Mind by Sufjan Stevens & Angelo De Augustine

A new seemingly traditional Sufjan Project in just a year after his previous?!!! More of a return to form but I'm glad he did some experimenting before comming back to home (at least that's what it seems like).

couple recent things I've been enjoying

Wolfgang Rihm / Giaches De Wert: In Umbra Mortis by Cappella Amsterdam / Daniel Reuss
very intriguing religious choral/polyphonic chant music that finds points of connection between 2 composers born 400 years apart, treating respective compositions of the two like parts of the same whole, to very convincing & engaging effect

Some more bangersโ€”

Expansions And Transformations: Part I & II by Rosie Turton
Short, punchy, jazz like a boxy cloudโ€”

Cavs by Cavs
Like that scene in Whiplash, except longerโ€” (drumdrumdrumdrum)

Skylla by Ruth Goller
Lights in mist, and endless road home, hitchhiking with a ghostโ€”

Under The Lilac Sky by Arushi Jain
Sunset amid the Bollywood revamp of Drive (miniseries)โ€”

Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 3 by Tkay Maidza
Cybercyclefuturebassrattingbossgirlcoreโ€”

Ursgal by Enji
The bent flower petals of lifeโ€”

At Pioneer Works by Les Filles De Illighadad
And I can't think of anything to write for this one, but it's good.

Yeah, not really into the religion, but the aesthetics are on point. Second choral album on my chart this year. (It'll probably move up after a second listen eventually). Feel like it would be otherworldly live. They definitely managed to freshen the sound up (somehow, can't pinpoint it), it comes across very modern.

Body Of Water by Dolphin Midwives

Forgive me โ€” I donโ€™t remember which one of you introduced me to Dolphin Midwives, but her new album is out, and itโ€™s quite lovely. I am the worst at genre classifiers, but I think this falls somewhere in the dream pop / shoegazing / ethereal / ambient sphere of things. She plays harp through effects pedals and sings soprano melodies.

This type of description is so much more helpful than most genre classifiers. Definitely piqued my interest, I'll check it out.

The news of a new Kanye album possibly dropping as soon as this week has me hyped ngl. Named after his mother. Sure to be an emotional one I think.

If there's one thing I've learned as a Kanye fan it's to never get hype about a *possible* album drop. I'll believe it when I see it lol.
