I find it impossible to pick a favourite led zep album. Each brings something different depending on my mood. One of the all time greatest bands ever
this was my fave for many years but think there are just a few weaker (not necessarily bad) tracks towards the end,,, I've always though if they'd released just the songs recorded at Headley Grange without adding other songs they had leftover from earlier recording sessions it would have been near to a perfect album...
Headley Grange sessions produced the below
Custard Pie 5*
In My Time Of Dying 5*
Trampled Underfoot 5*
Kashmir 5*
In The Light 5*
Ten Years Gone 4*
The Wanton Song 4*
Sick Again 4*
Hadn’t appreciated that. I had always assumed that it was all recorded at the same studio. The headley grange tracks are my favourite on the album so I think that I’d have to agree with you. Sometimes less is more.
I think that physical graffiti was probably their most experimental album and love it for that.
still a terrific album 😄
The Rover, Houses of The Holy and Black Country Woman were all Houses Of The Holy Outtakes
Down By The Seaside and Boogie With Stu both recorded during the IV sessions and and Bron-Yr-Aur was from III sessions - to my ears The Rover is only standout..
21:33. After listening to Robin Trower's guitar tone last night I've been in the mood for some Jimi - what was he thinking with this opening track!? earache!!
