Hendrix has produced some really class tunes and there are a handful scattered through this album. It’s a testament to the songwriting prowess of the man, that the main complaint about this album is that it doesn’t live up to the expectations of his other work - and still scores over 80%. There are several top-quality moments here but not quite enough to elevate it to something extra-special. (Edited)
12 - Immigrant song. ??? Hard Rock before Led Zeppelin ??? Hard Rock was born in this album, and die at 1979. RIP (Edited)
I used to hear this the way other commenters say: great, but a little uneven and not as good as Electric Ladyland. But it has soaked in on me over the years. Now, there's not a single microsecond of this album that I don't absolutely love, and I now think it's the Hendrix album where the voodoo runs purest and strongest. Hendrix was SO much more than a guitar pioneer. His songwriting and conceptual clarity was razor sharp, and beyond the sheer intelligence, there's an extra spark--that's genius. I f'ing love this f'ing album. (Edited)

Little Wing is one of the best songs ever made, definately top 5 imo. The album holds up great, but it's still the worst out of the 3 Hendrix albums. That isn't a bad achievement though. Castles made of Sand and Bold as Love are also amazing (Edited)
