Recovering The Satellites by Counting Crows
I remember that as the years went by, this band became duller and duller in my ears but these last years I hadn't really listened to them or this album anymore. Weel, in fact this album was a very pleasant surprise and this album seems to have regained the effect it had on me the moment it was released. There are so many great tracks here that I cannot be but awe-inspired at them and the highlight remains I'm Not Sleeping which besides being a great song also has a superb guitar part. The songs are heavier than on that other top album of theirs August and Ever After and in that way I like it more but tracks like A Long December show that they still shine on the slower tracks as well. So still a very good album which goes from the 70th to the 30th rank of the year.

Amanita by Bardo Pond
So I finally did it: listen to what is advised by Repo to be their best albums. I thought their other album were fairly murky and this is certainly also the case for most of the tracks here, but in some way this album grew on my the more I advanced in the album. For me the obvious highlight is also the shortest track Sometimes Words, but in fact most of the songs have a mesmerising effect with their droning character. The album enters at the 43rd rank of the year.

Awesome! Glad u dug it for the most part. It's one of those albums that gets better with every spin!
Adam & Eve by Catherine Wheel
In fact this is a masterpiece. This band has everything Muse isn't: it's over the top but it's genial over the top both in the singing of Rob Dickinson (as his cousin Bruce but in a different way) as in the songwriting itself. These guys should have filled stadions but unfortunately they are a bit underrated. This album is not their first and maybe Chrome and certainly Ferment were maybe more influential but here there succeed to match very sensitive songs like Phantom Of The American Mother and Ma Solituda with fist pumping killers like Delicious and For Dreaming which is one of my all-time favorite songs. So no wonder this album climbs from the 8th to the 2nd rank of the year (of course behind OK Computer).

Bubblegun by The Merrymakers
I would rather say powerpop than powerrock with a strong footing in the 60s and infectious melodies by this Swedish band. Good for the 30th rank of the year.
Celebrity Skin by Hole
It is often whispered that other people contributed more to her albums than she did: Kurt Cobain to Live Through This and Billy Corgan to this one; but truth remains that also this one is very good album and that at least she did the singing herself, something she does really well. Best tracks is Heaven Tonight but all tracks (maybe except for Dying) are good. It remains at the 16th rank.

The Infinite Circle by Sophia
I'm a fan of this band so I don't really know why it doesn't appear on my year chart yet. OK, it's not their best and I suppose a lot of people won't like the way Robin Proper-Sheppard sings but Bastards is a magnificent track. The album enters my chart at number 24.
Not as good as his first album but still ok and enters at the 32nd rank of the year.
I think I'm in the minority for thinking this one is significantly better than the first one, but I could probably agree that both of them are slightly better than his fifth solo LP, I'm OK, You're OK. Then again, I'm listening to that right now just to make sure I remember how OK it actually is, and it seems to be better than just OK, side 1 at least. I guess I'm just non-critical when it comes to this guy...
Binaural by Pearl Jam
This is not their best album and at some points fairly mellow but with tracks like Nothing As It Seems you can't go wrong. So still a good one and climbs from the 60th to the 23rd rank of the year.

Electronic Jacuzzi by Ghinzu
First an introduction. As far as Belgian music goes there's a few bands that really stood up and really had a sound that was their own with TC Matic in the eighties, the heyday of dEUS in the nineties. But what in the years 2000 and after. Well here I would like to introduce to you two bands that according to me were very good and original: Madensuyu (comes later) and Ghinzu, a Brussels band, who released their first album in 1980. At the start of this long album they sounded a but like an offshoot of dEUS but as the album progresses you feel that, although they still seem to search for their own sound, they are gradually finding it. The highlight of the album is Dracula Cowboy. Mind you this album is not widely available and the version on Apple Music that I had already listened to before but never included in my year chart upto now is not complete but there's always Youtube. Their best album was yet to come but this is a fine effort and it goes to the 14th rank.

This is a better latter day album of theirs then I thought, not in the least because it features two great tracks which wouldn't have been unfit for their best albums: Ordinary Dream and A Long Time Gone. But overall a fine album which goes from the 51st to the 25th rank.

A bit of an uneven album with even the introduction of violins which sometimes work and on other tracks don't. It enters at the 33rd rank.

Strangely, I also noted only two tracks in 2001 that reminded me of the familiar ELO.
