Fun fact: I once recorded a hip hop album called “Gangsta Bitch Casserole” with a couple friends at home with semi pro equipment and a professional level female singer (for the choruses) that we knew and, although done as a joke (besides the somewhat professional production and choruses) and intended for fun for about 30-40 friends that we passed it around to, we accidentally managed to generate some interest from a couple lower tier music exec type people who offered to take a further look at us and requested if we could send them more material.
And… that’s when I pulled out instead of pulling up… I just couldn’t even begin to fathom accidentally being taken seriously in the genre (felt a bit like the second coming of Milli Vanilli, besides actually writing and performing the songs).
I also just thought: wtf happens if when I show up to their studio to record and they realize how utterly un-Gangsta I am? 🤣
