Apologies, writing on the fly a bit (and adding things that aren't in the guidelines ), but by 'remix' mainly referring to remix albums where tracks are entirely remixed rather than the dictionary definition.

Ah yes now that makes sense That's okay
The case of "F♯ A♯ ∞" is insanely unique in comparison with other re-issues, since the movements sound the same but many were replaced in order, and few were removed or even added as brand new.
But if we look at it from a different persceptive, the CD version feels like a re-issue which the tracklisting is re-ordered, with few new tracks, and very few being removed. There are possibly quite many re-issues like that.
So based on that treatment, we might need to merge the CD version album entry into the original LP one, so the charts with the CD version will be transferred to the LP entry are raise the rank score of it.
Allowing the CD version remain on the site creates some approval for other re-issues to suddenly claim presence, and considering (as you said earlier) make everyone listen to each version of an album and tell the difference, that would create more work and chaos regarding which reissues should be approved on BEA and which shouldn't.
GY!BE is popular on many music forums, and the case of "F♯ A♯ ∞"'s reissue is widely known enough, since the album itself is very critically-acclaimed, and the original LP doesn't include some movements, especially the climax of "The Sad Mafioso..." on the CD, which is one of the most iconic compositions of GY!BE, so some people prefer listening to the CD instead of the LP as a result, but eventually whatever has to be done, probably needs to be done.

The site needs to be as consistent as possible so that everyone visiting understands how the site works (and any disputes can be dealt with rationally). One example (of many) where the original release is listed at the expense of the more popular version is Are You Experienced (1967) by The Jimi Hendrix Experience where BEA lists the UK version and not the iconic US release (& album art), so no Hey Joe or Purple Haze.

Congratulations on fixing this, which has always nagged at me.
Now let's combine the two versions of In Search Of... by N*E*R*D (because I guarantee that most of the votes are for the "rock" version rather than the original "electronic" one, which I don't think many people have heard; is it even available anywhere?), and figure out some way to deal with the absurd fact that the obscure 1998 single-volume "clean" Wal-Mart version of Use Your Illusion is in the BEA top 5,000 because people think they're voting for Vol. I or Vol. II.

Thanks for your feedback. There's a fair chance there are releases with similar issues. The best thing to do is flag on each admin page where there might be an issue and they can be checked into on a case by case basis (otherwise there's a risk this thread gets too big to manage and conversation gets tangled up etc). (I've flagged for review the albums mentioned in your post).
