Piero Scaruffi ranked it as the greatest jazz album of all time.[2] Richard Cook and Brian Morton, writers of The Penguin Guide to Jazz, awarded the album a "Crown" token, the publication's highest accolade, in addition to the highest four-star rating.[3] Steve Huey of allmusic awarded The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady five stars out of five and described the album as "one of the greatest achievements in orchestration by any composer in jazz history."[4] As of March 2012, the album is ranked #28 on RateYourMusic's "Top Albums of All-time" list.[5] Q magazine (2/96, p.109) - 4 Stars - Excellent - "a mixture of haunting bluesiness, dancing vivacity, and moments of Andalusian heat..." wikipedia
BTW; Mingus 90 - birthday approaching (April 22, two days earlier at my father, RIP, both), it is nice to remember him that way. An interesting list.
