Sadly watching less and less as the NFL slowly becomes the wasteland that is the NBA...

Super Bowl prediction:

SF 20
KC 24

I think the 49ers's A game is slightly better than the Chiefs's A game. But the 49ers simply haven't been bringing it lately. They needed second half comebacks in both of their playoff games to win by a FG. There's something to be said for making adjustments and playing from behind, but it's not easy to keep winning like that. Plus it's not a good sign that they've tended to fall behind to begin with. The Chiefs, however, have looked much sharper. Reid has been here, Mahomes has been here, Spags has been here, they've all been here. Experience and momentum matter. Chiefs will win!

Wow, almost had the Exacta. If SF hadn't missed that extra point, KC would have been forced to go for the TD at the end of regulation instead of the field goal, and if they'd gotten it and gone for two (successfully), you would've had it.

Pretty impressive! Smile

(I guess they probably wouldn't have gone for two, though. The guy from the Detroit Lions would have done it.)

My annual prediction for next year's halftime show:

If they go rock: Foo Fighters

If they go pop: Dua Lipa

If they go country: Carrie Underwood / Dolly Parton / Miley Cyrus

And I don't think they'll go hip-hop.

Jazz alt: Sonny Rollins, with no accompaniment, just RIPPING an improvised saxophone solo for 10 minutes straight.

How about the NFC North? A 15-win team, a 14-win team, and a likely 12-win team. We'll see how far they get. Let's go Birds!

They key word was likely, haha. GB's loss was one of several surprises in the final week. KC's backups looked terrible. They weren't expected to win the game, but 38-0? That's pathetic even by second-string standards. I'm disappointed in the Chiefs, not only for their performance, but a win would have put the Bengals in the playoffs, which I think fans wanted. The Bengals started off bad due to their disarray on defense, but it had nothing to do with Joe Burrow, who played like an MVP all season long. Their defense got it together down the stretch, improving from 4-8 to 9-8, beating two playoff teams in that streak. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough. It would have been interesting to see if the Bengals could continue their hot streak in the playoffs, but that's how it goes. Teams make the playoffs based on overall performance for the entire season, even though I doubt anybody (outside delusional Steelers and Texans fans) truly believe the playoff-bound Steelers and Texans are better than the Bengals right now. What else happened? Oh yeah, the Bucs won the South for the 4th straight year, with Evans's last-second catch in a kneel-down situation being a cheerful moment. What happened in that Bills-Patriots game? Were both teams trying to lose? Aaron Rodgers played possibly his last game with the Jets, and possibly his last game ever. And if it was, it was a great finish. 4 TDs, including a milestone 500th of his career. And they actually won the game, knocking their division rival out of contention, prompting a whiny Tyreek Hill post-game interview. Lastly, the big night game featuring two 14-win teams playing for a first-round bye and home field advantage. It was pretty clear Detroit was the better team. The Golden Globes (which we were switching back-and-forth to on TV) had some more interesting moments than that blowout.

Anyway, I'm pumped for the playoffs! Will post predictions later.

You may have heard there's a ring of fire burning around the city I live in. The windstorm was so bad, my place lost power for 28 hours. The fires are so bad, it's shocking and hard to put into words. And now the air quality is so bad, they had to move the Rams-Vikings game to Arizona. So yeah, about those predictions:

LAC 24
HOU 16

The Texans are in the same position as last year, champions of the weakest division in the NFL. They surprised me last year with a Wild Card win, but I don't see that happening this time. The injuries to Diggs and Dell will limit their passing threat. On the other side, The Chargers are well-balanced, have a good defense, and a new coach with a proven track record in playoff games.

PIT 17
BAL 34

This is a matchup of momentum. The team that started 10-3 before losing four straight vs. the team who was not far behind and finished strong and took the AFC North. Jackson, Henry, the hostile crowd...it'll be too much for the Steelers to handle, who will go out with a whimper. Saturday will belong to the Harbaugh Brothers. (Many unhappy fans won't see this game due being exclusively on Prime)

DEN 20
BUF 31

The Broncos are a good team, and congrats to them for their first playoff appearance since 2015. They won't win this, as they're outmatched by a better team. But they'll build from this season going forward. Will this be the year of Bills? It's possible. They got a team to do it, just a matter of overcoming their playoff demons. Their path starts here.

GB 20
PHI 28

I like my team's chances this year. Jalen Hurts is looking like he'll be cleared of concussion protocol in time for the game. And we have the #1 defense in the NFL. Jordan Love and the Packers will keep it close, but I think the Eagles will wear them down by the end. Fly Eagles fly!

WAS 27
TB 31

This has the makings of a high-scoring game. Great offenses and mediocre defenses. I predict the Bucs because they have home field and more experience in the playoffs. 5 straight playoff appearances and 4 straight division champs. Baker Mayfield has the ability to take over a game.

MIN 30
LAR 23

It's difficult predicting the Rams. They beat the Bills in a shootout one week, then beat the Niners in a defensive grind the next. So which team will show up? This game feels like a coin flip. I don't think the Vikings are as good as their record suggests. They were embarrassed in their last game. The Lions showed everyone when you blitz and pressure Darnold, he plays terrible. Do the Rams have the front four to make him uncomfortable? I have my doubts, so I think they'll have to outscore them, which is hard to do. And they just lost their home field advantage due the wildfires. At a neutral site, I think the Vikings got this.

I should have known better not to mention the local disaster on this thread, but it was pretty much the only thing on my mind for two days. So when I got power and wi-fi back, and visited BEA for the first time after the storm, I figured I'd let ya'll know I'm alright and share predictions in the same post. Like killing two birds with one post. @LTSings, thank you for the well wishes. But yeah, from now on let's keep this thread on topic.

It's playoff season! At both the professional and collegiate levels. I didn't follow college football much until this season. Many of my friends and family are huge CFB fans, so I've always been aware of the latest news and results. I'd casually watch a game every now and then, but I didn't get as involved as my peers. This year, however, I liked how the NCAA finally caught up with the times and made a common sense playoff system, and I found myself following it closely. However, the first two rounds of the college playoffs, that narrowed the field from 12 teams to 4, were mostly boring one-sided games. So maybe 12 teams was too many, ha. The semi-final games, played over the last two days, were much more interesting.

And now it's NFL's turn. First playoff game is a few hours away. Can't wait for the Eagles tomorrow! ChiefRocka, if you're still out there, how are you feeling about the Chiefs this year?
