Garth Hudson passed away today. We've now lost all five members of The Band. From L to R: Richard Manuel (1943-1986), Levon Helm (1940-2012), Rick Danko (1943-1999), Garth Hudson (1937-2025), and Robbie Robertson (1943-2023). One of the greatest groups ever. _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold

Of dying history
Marianne Faithfull, the British pop star, muse, libertine and old soul who inspired and helped write some of the Rolling Stones’ greatest songs and endured as a torch singer and survivor of the lifestyle she once embodied, has died. She was 78.
Faithfull passed away Thursday in London, her music promotion company Republic Media said.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of the singer, songwriter and actress Marianne Faithfull,” a company spokesperson said in a statement. “Marianne passed away peacefully in London today, in the company of her loving family. She will be dearly missed.”
Remembering Karen Carpenter who passed away 42 years ago this month, on February 4, 1983, of anorexia. Karen is widely regarded as one of the greatest female vocalists of all-time.
^^^ My earliest memory of Christmas music is her singing and so for me "the most wonderful time of the year" has to include her and Richard.
God bless you and him always!!!

P.S. I love how Richard sings "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear".
I have great childhood memories of them too. The first time I heard them was at my grandparent's house. The song was Bacharach's "I'll Never Fall in Love Again".
Robert John died a few days ago, on February 24th. He had a great voice, and I used to love his song "Sad Eyes" when I was very young. Does anyone remember this song? Now that I am older and wiser, I think these lyrics are terrible. The song is about a cheater, and it has a bad message. In the lyrics he even says to his side girlfriend that he is leaving, "I never used you, you know I really cared." Well, yes, if you have a girlfriend on the side, you are using her, and you didn't really care. I look at these lyrics so much different now than I did when I was young and naive. There's no denying Robert John was a talented singer, but these lyrics are just bad. Here is the song for those who don't remember it.
