Robert John died a few days ago, on February 24th. He had a great voice, and I used to love his song "Sad Eyes" when I was very young. Does anyone remember this song? Now that I am older and wiser, I think these lyrics are terrible. The song is about a cheater, and it has a bad message. In the lyrics he even says to his side girlfriend that he is leaving, "I never used you, you know I really cared." Well, yes, if you have a girlfriend on the side, you are using her, and you didn't really care. I look at these lyrics so much different now than I did when I was young and naive. There's no denying Robert John was a talented singer, but these lyrics are just bad. Here is the song for those who don't remember it.
Wow. Thanks for such a heartfelt and thoughtful tribute to someone who just died. You're awesome. _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold

Roberta Flack passed away of cardiac arrest on February 24th at the age of 88. She had been diagnosed with ALS in late 2022. Here is a link to a video of Roberta live with Aretha Franklin, Sarah Vaughn, & Peggy Lee in 1973. Not the best video quality, but better than nothing. Embedding has been disabled for this video.
Sic transit gloria mundi and all that. I thought that Roberta would get some more farewells here. But then, I was not a big fan either. _________________ When the stewardess is near do not show any fear.

I said he was a talented singer and that he had a great voice. It's this song that I've wised up about since I was really young.
You also said he wrote terrible lyrics, and posted a song to point that out. Nice. You go, girl. _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold

Sorry. His death made me think of this song because it's the only one of his songs that I ever listened to. It made me think of when I was young and naive and actually loved that song. I'm checking out some of his other songs now.
Just saw that David Johansen has gone to a better place. Although the place he occupied with the other Dolls was not a really bad one. _________________ When the stewardess is near do not show any fear.
