I can definitely relate to the last bit (78s are interesting, also depends on year of manufacture, single/double-sided etc, but this one almost certainly less than 20 minutes per your analysis).

II have a suggestion that could benefit our future modding activities concerning finding out the first original year of releases:
Allmusic is missing a lot of entries and alternate versions of entries. It doesn't have as many album entries as MusicBrainz, which has been not added for use in the current guidelines regarding finding out the first original year of releases.
II've tried searching for albums on Allmusic several times long enough while modding, and all the ones which are not very popular in general are missing, and concerning one of the most popular video-game franchises' soundtracks "Silent Hill", even the soundtracks of "Silent Hill 1" & "Slient Hill 2" are completely missing on Allmusic, and they even mislabel the year of release of "Silent Hill 3"'s soundtrack as the year of release of "Silent Hill 1"'s soundtrack.
So based on those facts II think it would be better for us usually in the case of not very popular releases to rely on MusicBrainz (and Discogs & RYM too of course) more than Allmusic.

Over the years, I've personally found that MusicBrainz is not as accurate as AllMusic for original release dates (not disputing it might have a bigger database and track listings are generally ok). AllMusic covers off a good proportion of the albums on BEA and the ones that it doesn't list will generally be on either/both of the other platforms, so don't feel the need to change things this soon.

II guess from what you're saying is that Allmusic is better than MusicBrainz for albums which are popular enough to be included in their database.
II can agree that MusicBrainz could be not as accurate most of the time as Discogs and even RYM (there are few cases when MusicBrainz and RYM are more accurate), since MusicBrainz possibly bases its information on external links of other sites (e.g. Discogs is displayed several times), so II think MusicBrainz could be at least used when there is a tie between Discogs and RYM showing each a different year of a release, and Allmusic doesn't have the release in their database, or lacks more info about the release, such as: not a full release date, not enough different versions of the release etc.
Regarding video-game soundtrack releases, II still think VGMdb is the absolute best, since there are high-quality images of the releases, full credits of people participating in the release and an active community who post source links in the changelog history. Thus, regarding all of that, II think VGMdb could be more accurate than any other music database website II've used so far (however, VGMdb only includes video-game soundtracks, anime soundtracks etc.).
So modding in such cases becomes more flexible and broader than using the same websites for accurate info, but overall, II agree with your points.

Agree, no database has 100% coverage. Niche sites can be important for some types of release.
