An album so minimalist it don't even bother with a proper drummer, who might feel the need for an extra frill here or there. Such a thing would be so unnecessary, best to go with straight up rhythm tracks. Great album, and its a real shame they never did anything else - there needs to be more songs like Salad Days in music.

Love this record, would be in my top 500 if I could straighten out such a list, very experimental for post-punk (but so was Aunt Sally's output). Just one of those "arthouse" bands that succeeds very well on this record.

Also, check out Stuart Moxham's solo albums. They're not as good as this, but there are some little modest gems in them, and I really like them (Cars in the Grass, Random Rules, Signal Path). Alison Statton has also some fine albums to her own credit, most notably with Ian Devine - may I suggest Cardiffians?
