Burzum's music sounds ghostly, like it could in some parallel dimension be a kind of ritualistic traditional music—and the effect is achieved through playing metal riffs very repetitively with lots of distortion, shit recording quality, and adding the occasional cheap synth bleeping. That’s just bizarre, and rather brilliantly creative. So many bands have tried to build on some lo-fi atmospheric black metal sound, and I'll bet a huge number of them owe something to Burzum's influence.

Grouper's songwriting is hit and miss, and seems to just drown everything in reverb. Past a few songs it ceases to be interesting and just seems lazy.

Could never get into Grouper as much as I'd hoped. I love Burzum though.

Abstain, don't care for either. Surprised Grouper is leading the poll greatly, shows how anti- metal this site is.

I think you're thinking of something else.

Edit: Nevermind, I just read that wrong, ignore this.

Noo, it shows how amazing Grouper is. I love Burzum and it would've gotten my vote over most things, but Grouper's music is amazing.

Not a remark on how I view them personally or ya know how I love jumping the *official* anti-metal bandwagon, but Grouper easily
